A sideboard with bar storage does the same job as a bar cabinet, but in a lower and wider form. Bottles, wine and glasses fit inside, and the top becomes a surface to serve from, put a lamp on or lay out before dinner. Here you will find sideboards in solid acacia wood, from compact models to a long, stackable version: Seattle, Little Bronx, Riverdale and Lubbock.
Sideboard or bar cabinet?
The difference lies in the height and in how the piece is used. A bar cabinet is taller and gathers everything behind its doors. A sideboard is lower, here between 85 and 100 centimetres, and works as much as a serving surface as storage. It fits under a painting or a window, along a wall in the dining room or as a divider in an open-plan living room.
If you need more storage in height, a bar cabinet is the natural choice. If the piece should be seen without taking over the room, a sideboard is often easier to place.
The models at a glance
Dimensions are given as width, depth and height.
Seattle: 120 × 45 × 85 cm, wine storage for up to 12 bottles and hanging glass holders. Matte black or walnut brown.
Little Bronx: 120 × 47 × 87 cm, room for up to 30 wine bottles, 10 glass hangers and a closed compartment behind two arched doors. Matte black or walnut brown, with a marble top as an option.
Riverdale: 149.5 × 33 × 100 cm, modular and stackable, with or without interior fittings. Matte black or walnut brown.
Lubbock: 120 × 48 × 87 cm, rattan details, 18 wine slots and 9 hangers for wine glasses.
Sideboards 120 cm wide
Three of the models, Seattle, Little Bronx and Lubbock, are 120 centimetres wide and between 45 and 48 centimetres deep. It is a format that fits along most walls without dominating the room. Riverdale is longer but considerably narrower, at 33 centimetres deep, which makes it easy to place in a hallway or where floor space is limited.
Wooden sideboards
All four models are made of solid acacia wood. Acacia is a hard wood with a distinct grain. Riverdale and Lubbock are handmade, so the pattern and tone vary slightly from piece to piece. Seattle, Little Bronx and Riverdale come in matte black and walnut brown, while Lubbock has a warm, natural tone.
Sideboards with marble or rattan
Little Bronx can be ordered with a marble top, including white Carrara. The marble gives a smooth, cool surface that contrasts with the wood. Lubbock goes the other way. The rattan details give a lighter and more relaxed look that suits modern, bohemian and classic homes alike.
Wine and glass storage
If you are looking for a sideboard with a wine rack, the interior is what decides it. Seattle holds 12 bottles, Lubbock 18 and Little Bronx up to 30. The glasses hang upside down in the hangers, which makes them easy to take out and saves space on the shelves. Riverdale instead has shelves at different heights, with a 50-centimetre middle compartment for tall bottles and glasses.
Riverdale, a modular sideboard
Riverdale can stand on its own or be combined with another unit, either stacked on top or placed side by side. That makes it possible to start with one sideboard and build it out into a larger cabinet as your needs grow. The model is available with or without interior fittings.
A sideboard together with a drinks trolley
A sideboard often works as the base of a home bar. It keeps wine and glasses together in one place, while a drinks trolley is wheeled out when you have guests and put away when the evening is over. Choose the same colour for both, and they read as one unit in the room.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a sideboard and a bar cabinet?
A sideboard is lower and wider than a bar cabinet. Our models are between 85 and 100 centimetres high, which means the top works as a surface for serving, a lamp or laying the table. A bar cabinet instead gathers everything in height behind its doors and takes up less floor space.
How many wine bottles does the sideboard hold?
It depends on the model. Seattle holds up to 12 bottles, Lubbock has 18 wine slots and Little Bronx has room for up to 30 wine bottles. Riverdale instead has shelves at different heights, with a 50-centimetre middle compartment for tall bottles and glasses.
What material are the sideboards made of?
All four models are made of solid acacia wood, a hard wood with a distinct grain. Seattle, Little Bronx and Riverdale come in matte black and walnut brown. Lubbock has rattan details, and Little Bronx can be ordered with a marble top.
How do I care for an acacia sideboard?
Wipe the surface with a slightly damp cloth and dry it afterwards, especially if something has been spilt. Use coasters under glasses and bottles to avoid rings. When the wood starts to look dry it can be oiled again, which protects the surface and brings out its tone.
Can a sideboard be extended with more units?
Yes, Riverdale is modular and stackable. It can stand alone, be stacked with another unit on top or be placed side by side with a second one. That means you can start with one sideboard and build it out into a larger cabinet as your needs grow.
